Welcome!
Welcome to my website! I live in north Texas, where I work in the training and performance improvement field.
Beyond day-to-day business, some of the words I would use to describe myself would be training guru, writer, photographer, Internet and open source geek, entrepreneur, naturalist and environmental advocate, ‘history detective,’ and organic gardener.
Training and Performance ‘Guru’
I have extensive experience in delivering training solutions–beginning with business requirements and training objectives, and continuing through analysis and instructional design, as well as implementation and evaluation (through ROI). I’ve managed large teams of instructional designers and a wide variety of projects.
I’m also a Subject Matter Expert on Learning Management Systems (LMSs) as I have worked closely with several LMSs, including managing their initial rollout, implementation, and administration.
You can find me at LinkedIn.
Entrepreneur
Between 1996-2003, I ran two successful small businesses. (Both were part-time and neither impacted my training career). The first involved investing in and managing multiple rental properties. I’ve always found real estate very interesting and if the rental market had not taken a downturn, I would probably still be managing these. The second business was Little Doggies Second Home, a boutique-like boarding service for small dogs, which was quite successful and resulted in 300 customers within 2 years.
Advocate
I’m very passionate about minimizing our impact on our environment, promoting more sustainable practices, and protecting our wild spaces and the life that inhabits them.
I serve as a volunteer leader with the Sierra Club and I advise groups and community leaders on environmental issues. I organize events and deliver seminars regularly on such topics as energy efficiency and north Texas water issues. I’m also a Texas Master Naturalist (Blackland Prairie Chapter).
In 2007, I founded the Dallas Green Zine which I managed until 2010. In 2010, I worked with Memnosyne Foundation to help launch the website, Green Source DFW.
